  Program Overview
 
The purpose of the DoD Pharmacoeconomic Center (PEC) Managed Care Pharmacy Residency (PGY1) Program is to develop pharmacists who are valued members of the healthcare team, able to provide clinical and cost effectiveness evaluations to support the DoD P&T Committee. The resident will be able to provide pharmacoeconomic and budget impact analysis, complete outcomes research and other DoD clinical initiatives and help to achieve optimal drug therapy outcomes through the application of their knowledge.

Required experiences include: Formulary Management, Drug Information and Drug Policy, Direct Patient Care (Ambulatory Care), Pharmacoeconomics, Leadership & Admin/Mgmt, Outcomes Research and Analysis, Pharmacy Informatics, Academia, Tricare Management Activity in Falls Church, VA, and Pharmacy Operations Center/PBM. Residents will participate in the medication use evaluation process, presentation to the P&T Committee, precept student pharmacists, provide didactic lectures in the classroom setting, and develop and present continuing education programs. An original project, worthy of publication, is required.
